ABB E-mobility expands global service training network with new Delft facility
Earlier this summer in June, ABB E mobility announced the opening of a new state of the art service training facility in Delft, The Netherlands, further strengthening its global footprint of certified training centers and reinforcing its commitment to charger uptime and operational excellence.
The Delft facility is the latest addition to a growing international network. Together, these centers form a critical foundation of ABB E mobility’s service strategy: ensuring that every charger in the field is supported by highly trained, certified experts.
Training as a cornerstone of charger uptime
As EV infrastructure scales rapidly, the reliability of charging networks is increasingly shaped not only by hardware design, but by the quality of service behind it. Installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting all require specialized expertise, particularly as charging systems become more powerful, connected, and complex.
ABB E mobility places structured training at the center of its service model. Its certified Service Training Program ensures that only qualified technicians perform work on its chargers – helping maintain safety, performance, and quality standards. This focus reflects a broader industry reality: without comprehensive remote and on-site service capabilities, even the most advanced charging technology cannot deliver reliable uptime in the field.
From knowledge to hands‑on expertise
Each training facility is designed to bridge the gap between theory and real-world application. Participants progress through a structured learning journey combining digital modules, classroom training, and hands‑on experience with subject matter experts. The new Delft site is equipped with ABB E-mobility’s full DC charging portfolio, enabling technicians to train with the same technologies they will encounter in the field.
The Certified Service Training program covers critical competencies such as:
- Safe installation and operation
- Preventative and corrective maintenance
- Charger functionality and system behavior
- Commissioning and system configuration
- Advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting
Scenario-based training plays a particularly important role. By working directly with equipment in controlled environments, technicians develop the practical skills needed to resolve real‑world issues quickly and effectively – an essential factor in minimizing downtime.
Training sessions are delivered in multiple languages, including English, German, French and Spanish, ensuring accessibility for a broad international audience. This enables service partners to engage with a consistent curriculum in their local language, wherever they operate.
A strong training program is not measured by attendance, but by the effectiveness it creates afterwards.
